Traveling Day Camp
Why Traveling Day Camp?
Traveling Day Camp is a unique opportunity for campers to gather together and witness a Christ-Centered community experience in their own community. Through a range of activities, including Bible Study, Games and Crafts campers are able to witness firsthand the impact of a Christ centered community in their home environment.
Who will be with my Children?
Our Staff come from around the world to share faith and broaden world views as we live together in our Christian Community at Traveling Day Camp. All our staff are college-age or older and all have been screened, selected and experienced an intensive 2 week training program to ensure an exciting and meaningful camp experience. All staff are CPR and first aid certified.
What will my Child achieve at Traveling Day Camp?
While your child is at Traveling Day Camp they will learn numerous life skills through every activity they take part in. Campers are taught about the importance of a community, fair play, sharing, encouraging, helping others, good sportsmanship, team work & listening to name a few. In addition to these skills campers will also learn the importance of putting Christ at the center of everything they do, both at camp and in their everyday lives.
My Child won’t be able to attend everyday of Traveling Day Camp, Can I still register them for Traveling Day Camp?
This is at the host sites discretion, many sites have a cut off number in place, due to space available & other requirements we ask sites to meet. Traveling Day Camp is scheduled very intentionally to keep each day as separate from other days as possible so your camper will not miss out on two day crafts, games etc. Bible Studies are designed to be stand alone, so if your camper missed one or two days they would not be ‘behind’ the others in the group.
Why bring Camp to the community?
Traveling Day Camp offers the summer camp and summer camp ministry experience to communities as a week long program. Traveling Day Camp is a useful tool for parents who are considering sending their child to camp but have reservations about doing so.
By making the camp experience available to you locally Stronghold is able to further its ministry through partnerships with local churches and organizations and in many cases we are able to help children develop in their faith through a program of fun, play and energy.
If my child goes to Traveling Day Camp does that mean he/she can also go to Stronghold?
Traveling Day Camp and Stronghold’s Summer Camp program are two very different experiences for campers. When at Stronghold Campers will take part in a range of activities including, astronomy, archery, high ropes, initiatives, swim time, campfires (around a real fire) and many other activities that the Traveling Day Camp team cannot bring to the host site. Campers at Stronghold’s summer program are also much more deeply immersed in community living, operating alongside many other campers for the whole week.
What is the difference between Traveling Day Camp and Stronghold’s Summer Camp program?
Traveling Day Camp is a uniquely tailored program to each site, dependent on space available, number of campers, resources available etc. Traveling Day Camp endeavors to bring camping ministry into the community and provides a uniquely personal outreach between the host site, Stronghold Camp and Retreat Center, and our campers, many of who have never had a camp experience. The Traveling Day Camp team consists of no fewer than three staff members and they bring with them a wealth of knowledge in the areas of Games, Arts and Crafts, Music, Bible Study and a range of other activities, they also bring with them as many supplies as possible to make the Traveling Day Camp experience as similar to the Stronghold Summer Camp Program as possible, whilst still maintaining its own identity.
Stronghold’s Summer Camps offer youth opportunities to respond positively to the person and ministry of Jesus Christ., grow in their relationships with God and one another, and increase their understanding and appreciation for the world around them. Stronghold Summer Camps become the place where many friendships and memories are born. During their time at Stronghold Summer Camps, Campers get the chance to test their own limits by taking part in a range of activities designed to have them thinking, questioning and having fun! Many of the activities Stronghold Summer Camps offer simply cannot be offered at Traveling Day Camp, such as the high ropes, leap of faith, swim time and astronomy to name a few.
What is the difference between Traveling Day Camp (TDC) and Vacation Bible School (VBS)?
Traveling Day Camp has a much greater emphasis on Building community and intentionally helping campers understand the importance of living/working/playing in a Christ-Centered, Christian Community. At TDC campers actively contribute to our behavior covenant at the beginning of the week, giving a sense of ownership over the camp program.
What is a Traveling Day Camp Behavior covenant?
The Traveling Day Camp behavior covenant is a list of rules and expectations put in place by the campers as a whole group at the start of the week. Campers then agree to commit to the fulfilment of these expectations throughout the week. This gives campers a great sense of ownership for the camp program and makes the week much more enjoyable for everyone.
Stronghold staff have a pre prepared list of behavioral expectations that they share with the campers to ensure basic behavioral needs are met throughout the week.
How do I go about registering my child for Traveling Day Camp?
